Although pathology is not a primary undergraduate degree, it is a crucial component of the MBBS curriculum. Medical students receive foundational knowledge in both general and systemic pathology. Additionally, the college offers B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) programs in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), which include significant training in pathology.

Postgraduate (PG):

A. MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Pathology:

This is the most common postgraduate specialization. It involves in-depth study of disease processes, including:

  • General Pathology: Fundamental principles of disease.
  • Systemic Pathology: Diseases affecting specific organ systems.
  • Clinical Pathology: Laboratory diagnosis of diseases.
  • Histopathology: Microscopic examination of tissues.
  • Cytopathology: Examination of cells.
  • Molecular pathology: Study of disease at a molecular level.

  • B. Diploma in Clinical Pathology (DCP):

This diploma program focuses on practical laboratory skills and is designed for those seeking careers in clinical laboratory settings.

    C. Senior Residents (SR):

Senior Residency" (SRship) refers to a period of postgraduate medical training, typically lasting one year. It is often a mandatory requirement for doctors aspiring to join the faculty of a medical college. Senior residency positions are usually tenure-based, with a defined duration, often extending up to three years.

    D. Blood Bank:

This involves organizing blood donation drives both within the institute and in the wider community, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for donors. Donated blood is separated into its various components, such as red blood cells, plasma, and platelets. The blood bank invests in high-quality equipment for blood collection, processing, testing, and storage, and ensures adequate space and facilities for all operations. Blood bank activities are overseen by State Blood Transfusion Councils (SBTCs).
