Biochemistry department in goverment medical college, saharanpur was estab lished in 2015 as per MCI ( NMC norm )
Biochemistry is study of chemical processes within and relating to living organism. Biochmistry focuses on understanding the chemical basis which allows biological molecules to give rise to processes that occur within living cells & between cells in turn relating to understanding of tissues and organs as well as organization structures & function. It deals with structures bonding functions & integration of biological macromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acid, carbohydrates & lipids taught to MBBS ,nursing and paramedical students.
The department has Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor along with tutors at present along with some non teaching staff. The department thrives for maintaining the high standard of teaching for building useful competency in medical students.

Biochemistry department is involved in undergraduate teaching for medical students .
Teaching activities includes conducting lectures and practical exercises for the undergraduate medical classes. In undergraduates innovative teaching techniques such as problem based learning OSPEs, OSCEs, and tutorials.
The faculty is involved in research activities related to basic and clinical research and encouraged to published papers.
The departmental faculty has contributed to more than 30 papers in national and international journals.
